How important are accurate measurements? VERY! When an experienced carpenter makes a measuring mistake, it’s generally because he’s in a hurry. Use a sharp instrument for marking. A No. 2 pencil works well. Shy away from flat carpenter’s pencils; their bulky size can cause you to make mistakes.
